Poetry With A Mission

Help And Rescue

I'm sure that you can tell me who preserved humanity,
By rescuing via a large ark Noah and his family.
And surely you know also, who spared and rescued Lot,
From Sodom’s wicked city struck by sulfur burning hot.

I’m sure you can tell me who spared Moses from a Pharaoh,
Safe inside a little basket midst the Nile’s ebb and flow.
And surely you know also, who parted the broad Red Sea,
So that His wayward people from their enemy could flee.

I’m sure you can tell me who a river also parted,
Letting Joshua go through as the priests the Ark carted.
And surely you know also, who Jericho’s walls destroyed,
With trumpet blasts and shouting He creatively employed.

I’m sure you can tell me who helped David slay a giant,
An evil Philistine, who with God’s way wasn’t compliant.
And surely you know also, who via birds, Elijah fed,
And fed a second time, via a widow the Spirit led.

I'm sure that you can tell me who saved Jonah via a whale,
Despite the fact that Jonah from this One had just set sail.
And surely you know also, who three Hebrews rescued too,
From Babylon’s fiery furnace where fueled flames higher grew.

Yes, I'm sure you can tell me who the lions’ mouths closed tight,
When Daniel in the lions’ den sought His help amidst his plight.
Yes, I’m sure you can tell me who spared from a death decree
Queen Esther and her people, plotted against treacherously.

If you can, you have clearly read the greatest Book of all,
That tells of help and rescue occurring since Adam’s fall.
But the greatest help and rescue, at Calvary took place,
'Cause there, our dear Saviour provided all with saving grace.
